I've had some great tacos this year and I thought I would honor some of these great taco establishments with end of the year taco awards. I can only choose from taco establishments that I have reviewed so if you feel that there is a taqueria or taco truck that deserves to be on this list please let me know and I'll get to them in 06
without further ado

charred tasty carne asada and flavorful al pastor with a kicked up salsa roja

thick slices of succulent fire grilled carne asada to dream about

outlaw eating at it's finest. charred slices of pork and carmalized onions

family owned taqueria with an unmatched secret recipe for carnitas

chorizo and cheese tacos give new meaning to the words taste explosion

still the King of the Los Angeles taco scene

makes you sweat a little and reach for that cold beverage

homemade fresh mexican fare with a great salsa bar

spicy salsa verde and tasty tacos

crisp and flavorful...no mush here
Happy new year everyone and great taco hunting in 06!

ReplyDeleteI know you didn't like the carne asada at Sanchez Taqueria on Centinela right around the corner from Taqueria Estilo Mexico, but I always go with the Lomo tacos there. Definitely the best Westside tacos i've had. As far as chains go, I like Tacos Mexico although most locations are in downtown or eastside, they have a location in Las Vegas if you need a fix (right on the strip!)
ReplyDeleteHere's to another year of tacos!
ReplyDeletekirk,
ReplyDeletehappy new years....cabeza is on the horizon. I just need to get a good reccomendation for it. sesos? hehe...no chance :)
dumont,
tacos mexico on the strip? sweet! A few years ago tacos mexico used to have 60 cent tacos. I'll have to check it out again for this taco hunt.
what's a lomo taco? I was at taqueria sanchez on inglewood yesterday and didn't see any on the menu.(i'll check out the centinela location)
Lomo is loin meat. i like it cause its more tender than the asada. Yeah, it may only be at the Centinela location though. looking forward to more of your taco adventures! I'm a taco fan myself
ReplyDeleteI noticed you had a lime in your corona...
ReplyDeleteforget that,
POUR King Taco's Salsa Roja
down the side of the neck a take hit
also very Aztec, delisiosa
King taco Salsa Roja IS THE BEST
keep that horchata handy...
closest is TABASCO'S new Chipoltepe
thanx for YOUR FINDINGS !!
Good lookin' on the reviews. While King Taco gets much love from most people with a clue, it was cool to see El Matador up there. I was introduced to it a couple of years ago, when a co-worker out here in Whittier was raving about "that late-night taco truck has people racing in from pico, bell gardens etc at 2 AM". Also, check out the truck on Alvarado St next to the Vons in Echo Park, just north of Sunset. It's the bomb.
